About Big Basin Prairie Preserve

The Big Basin Prairie Preserve is 1,818 acres of beautiful rugged scenery, featuring both Big Basin and Little Basin, along with a herd of bison, and St. Jacob's Well. Highway 283 disects Big Basin north and south, while a dirt road will lead you around the southeast rim of Big Basin to Little Basin and St. Jacob's Well. The nearest town is Ashland, and Big Basin is considered part of the western edge of the Gypsum Hills.
