About the Photo: Admont Abbey Library
Located in the Austrian Alps, the Admont Abbey Library is the largest monastic library in the world! Featuring this beautiful Baroque hall with more than 70,000 volumes of priceless books, the library was completed in the 18th century. With gilded bookshelves and ceiling frescoes by Bartolomeo Altomonte, it is one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. I tried to capture the timeless grandeur and symmetry of the main hall, using the natural light from the early morning sun as it casted light across the hallway from the tall eastern windows. Ornate stepladders adorned some of the bookshelves that stood tall over the beautiful flooring. Location Copyright: Admont Abbey Library
