Capturing the Fleeting Light of a Bow Valley Storm
I caught this beautiful double rainbow from the overlook northwest of Banff along the road toward Lake Louise. Titled "Canadian Rockies Double Rainbow", I was able to capture the rare, ephemeral intersection of light and shadow. Facing east-southeast as a summer thunderstorm rolled across Bow Valley towards the prairies, the heavy cloud cover began parting to the west allowing sunlight to filter in under the breaking storm clouds. The result was this brilliant primary rainbow of intense clarity, accompanied by a softer secondary bow cutting through the low-hanging alpine mist. The dark and brooding mountain peaks with the deep green canopy of the pine forest below contrasts with the vivid colors of the spectrum to provide the dramatic scene to pop brilliantly.
